Introduction

Government Islamia College Railway Road Lahore was established in 1892 by Anjuman-i-Hamayat-i-Islam to provide the education to the Muslims of Northern part of sub-continent. First the college was started educating students at Sherawala Gate building and then with the fund of Ruler of Bhopal State Nawab Shah Jahan Begum, the new building at Railway Road was purchased.
The college was a very famous and historical college of the Punjab province and the students of the college played a very effective role in the Pakistan Movement. Our great leader Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah also visited the college many times and spoke to the students gathering. The Habibia Hall of the college is very much renowned in the history pages of Pakistan Movement because the college arranged lots of seminars and lectures of leaders of the Movement in the hall.
